Preamble
We, the People, understanding that the foundation of a free and just society rests upon the security and dignity of every individual and the vitality of our shared environment, do ordain this People’s Accord. It is our declaration that the essential rights to a living wage, a healthy planet, safe shelter, comprehensive healthcare, economic security, and quality education are not privileges to be earned, but fundamental entitlements to be guaranteed.
With this Accord, we pledge to dismantle the barriers of corrupted influence and ensure that our government serves the common good above all else, establishing a future defined by equity, sustainability, and true democratic power.
Article 1: The Right to a Living Wage
Every person has the right to earn a living wage across all industries of work. The minimum wage shall be established using a national baseline adjusted by regional cost factors, ensuring a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of individuals and their families in their specific communities.
Article 2: The Right to a Healthy and Sustainable Environment
Every person has the right to a healthy, clean, and sustainable environment, essential for human health and the flourishing of all life. Environmental policy must prioritize historically burdened communities, honor our obligation to future generations, and recognize that a healthy environment is fundamental infrastructure upon which all other rights depend.
Article 3: The Right to Quality and Affordable Shelter
Every person has the right to quality and affordable shelter within vibrant, connected communities. Housing policy must prioritize permanent affordability, sustainable design standards, and equitable access to opportunity-rich neighborhoods.
Article 4: The Right to Healthcare for All
Every person has the right to comprehensive, high-quality healthcare, accessible to all residents of the nation without financial barrier. Healthcare must serve the common good. No corporate interest, private insurer, or pharmaceutical company shall stand between a person and the care they need to live with dignity.
Article 5: The Right to Economic Security
All persons shall have the right to economic security as a guarantee of dignity and stability. No person shall be left vulnerable to poverty, destitution, or abandonment due to aging, illness, disability, or involuntary unemployment.
Article 6: The Right to a Good Education
All persons shall have the right to a free, quality, and inclusive education from early childhood through adulthood. No person shall be burdened by student debt in the pursuit of knowledge. Education shall be publicly funded, equitably resourced, and free from corporate influence.
Article 7: The Right to Democratic Integrity
All persons have the right to a government that represents the people alone — not the wealthy, corporations, or special interests. Democratic integrity shall be protected as essential to the public trust and the survival of self-government.
